WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) released the following statement after voting against the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024.
The bill opens the door to giving more benefits to illegal aliens, distributing government handouts without work requirements, and continuing the fiscal irresponsibility Washington is known for. The bill was brought to the floor on suspension, which changed the rules of the House of Representatives to bypass regular order and force a vote on the legislation, which was lacking Republican support.
“A bad process produces a bad product,” said Rep. Rosendale. “Just like Groundhog Day, Congress suspended the rules and passed a $78 billion piece of legislation without discussion or debate on the floor. This bill will expose taxpayers to billions, possibly trillions of dollars of additional support to illegal aliens.”
