Rep. Rosendale Joins House of Representives in Impeaching Alejandro Mayrkas

Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02), joined the House of Representatives in Impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas. Rep. Rosendale was an original co-sponsor of the articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas that were introduced in November.

The Articles of Impeachment state:

“Throughout his tenure as Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas has repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security. In large part because of his unlawful conduct, millions of aliens have illegally entered the United States on an annual basis with many unlawfully remaining in the United States. His refusal to obey the law is not only an offense against the separation of powers in the Constitution of the United States, it also threatens our national security and has had a dire impact on communities across the country.”

Under Mayorkas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded 371,036 migrant encounters nationwide in December, including 302,034 at the Southwest border — the worst month on record. Over 1.8 million known gotaways have evaded U.S. Border Patrol with no record of their whereabouts as well. This fiscal year, CBP has arrested 9,052 aliens with criminal convictions attempting to cross into our country and, in December alone, seized 1,147 pounds of fentanyl coming across the Southwest border, bringing the total for the fiscal year to 4,324 pounds. It is absolutely pertinent for the safety and security of our country that he is removed from office.

“Secretary Mayorkas’ creation of a historically heinous crisis at our borders is fitting of the historic punishment of being impeached by the House of Representatives,” said Rep. Rosendale. “He is complicit for countless deaths and other horrific atrocities whether they be against Americans or those attempting to come here. I pray that the Senate take swift action on these articles so that the world is protected from the human trafficking, drug importing, and criminal activity that Mayorkas welcomed at our nation’s borders.”
