Who are the Friends of the Library?

It is our mission as library patrons and volunteers to promote the Roundup Community Library so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of libraries. We provide a public voice in the community for library needs and also represent the interests of library users to public officials. We promote reading, literacy, and cultural programs. We advocate for adequate funding for library operations and for accessibility of the library and information literacy.

We try to bring in speakers once or twice a year. In the past we have had authors come and speak about the books they have written. We have also had speakers who have shared information about historical figures such as Charlie Russell, Nancy Russell, and Dolly Madison.

We have an annual used book sale. This offers the community a great was to purchase books at affordable prices. Most of the books for the sale come from donations. This is a terrific opportunity to recycle books while raising funds for our library. Our sale this year will be scheduled in early August.

Another fundraiser we sponsor is our “Paint with Peggy” sessions. Peggy Unterseher is Roundup’s very talented Jr. High and High school art teacher. These are very popular events and fill up quickly.

With the funds we have raised we have purchased several items for the library, helped pay for the handicap entrance, and we are currently working on purchasing items for cognitive kits that patrons can check out of the library. These kits are designed to provide activities for people suffering from some type of dementia.

We meet at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in the Roundup Community Library. If you have any interest in becoming a friend of the library, stop by our table at the trade show on April 20th or see Vivian Edwards at the library.
