Gene William Moreau

Gene William Moreau (1948–2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gene William Moreau on May 13, 2024, in Bellingham, Washington. Born on August 29, 1948, in Bellingham, Washington, to Arthur George and Audrey Thelma Moreau (Chiverall), Gene grew up in Bellingham before moving to Roundup, Montana, 30 years ago.

Gene was a Vietnam veteran who served from 1968 to 1970. After his military service, he worked at Georgia Pacific in Bellingham as a boiler maker and later pursued ranching and various other occupations in Montana until his retirement.

Gene's love for ranching was evident in his passion for raising all sorts of birds, from pigeons to peacocks. He had a special relationship with his Aberdeen cattle that were a source of comfort and joy. Gene's eyes would light up when he discovered a beautiful agate or a sparkling crystal during his rockhounding adventures. His collection was a testament to his curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.

Gene was known for his quick wit and playful teasing. If you were lucky enough to get "dished" by Gene, it meant you were part of his inner circle! His sharp humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his passions, Gene and his loving wife, Vicki, enjoyed exploring life together. They reveled in garage sales, finding hidden treasures and sharing laughter along the way. Whether it was a dusty old book or a quirky knickknack, Gene and Vicki cherished the simple joys of these outings. They also loved mini road trips, often taking spontaneous drives to discover new places. Gene's adventurous spirit led them off the beaten path, rounding curves and uncovering scenic vistas. These moments created lasting memories for their hearts to hold.

Gene had a special place in his heart for Jack Russell dogs, which brought him immense joy and companionship. His love for these feisty dogs was only matched by his love for his family.

Gene was a kind and generous soul, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His warm presence and caring spirit made a lasting impact on the lives of those around him.

Gene is survived by his wife, Vicki Moreau; daughter, Mica Moreau; grandson, Ty Moreau; brothers, Arthur (Cindy) Moreau, Richard (Camille) Moreau, Gerry (Connie) Moreau, and Delbert (Judy Dupont) Moreau; sister, Annette (Josh) Townsend; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Moreau, and infant brother Robert Moreau.

A memorial service will be held at Gene and Vicki's residence in Roundup, Montana, on June 1st at 1pm. In celebration of Gene's life, we invite you to bring:

- Photos, memories, and stories to share

- Poems, writings, or other tributes

- Any other remembrances that honor Gene's spirit

These will be collected and displayed on a memory board at the memorial. Your contributions will help make this a special and memorable celebration of his life.

In the tapestry of life, Gene's thread will forever be woven into our memories.
