At the May 6th meeting of the Signal Peak Community Foundation Board the board approved 7 applications for grants for a total of $121,896.38.
The Melstone Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $16,000. for a battery operated "Jaws of Life" piece of equipment. This new battery operated device would allow portability and ease of operation in remote locations. The ambulance crew would also be able to use this device.
Marketplace for kids was awarded $2,500. for supplies and signage. This is an Educational program that provides early insights into entrepreneurship and career choices for students. Short, hands on classes are designed to help students explore career fields, develop self-employment skills, explore new technology and discover the world of entrepreneurship.
An award to Musselshell County Commissioners was granted contingent on the county getting their other funds they are seeking and that the funds do not go to purchase the building. This grant of $50,000. would be used to leverage other grants.
The Musselshell County on Aging was awarded $578.00 for a refrigerator that would be utilized for our Senior Citizens and clients that would use the Commons area . This would allow the outside food source to be separate from the facility food products.
Roundup Youth Baseball received $2,474.88 for new portable fencing to be utilized on game field 3 (City Tennis Court Field) to make that field a legal Little League field. Included in this grant was money to purchase 3 umpire gears.
Town of Melstone was awarded $26,468.50 to fix and update the ceiling in the Community Center with a drop ceiling ialong with new LED lighting to the kitchen, main room and stage would provide better lighting for Community Events as well as be more energy efficient.
Roundup market on Main was awarded $13,875 for a towable 24' trailer with built in seating and tables for 20 people. This will allow for easy, fast setup and take down during the markets and would be used for other community events. The tables and trailer will have the Signal Peak Mine logo on it and donated by Signal Peak Foundation.
$16,000. was given out to 8 graduating students and $25,000. to continuing student scholarships.
$5,000 scholarships were given to Luke Spencer and Bryce DeJaegher who will be attending Automobil Mechanics and welding school respectfully. Michael Bergin, Emalee Vickers, Josie Shaw, Deserae Toombs, Elisabeth Wills, and Laura McCamey all received $1,000. scholarships. These are all continuing scholarships if the students keep their grade point above point 3 grade and send in an application every year. Renewal scholarships went to Jordan Olson, $10,000., Braedan Bilden, $5,000. Anne Anderson , $1,000 and $1,000 to Tyeson Gravenhof. Tyler Kombol and Kaide Griffith received $2,500. each and Elizabeth Donahue and Makayla Kombol received $2,000. each.
