Rep. Rosendale's Amendment to Protect Eastern Montana Farmers and Ranchers Included in FY25 Energy and Water Appropriations

Congressman Matt Rosendale’s (MT-02) amendment preventing funds from being used to transfer or delegate control or maintenance responsibility of the Lower Yellowstone Fish Bypass Channel was voted to be included in H.R. 8997 - Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025.

“The Lower Yellowstone Fish Bypass Channel was meant to address species conservation,” said Rep. Rosendale. “Instead, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation are now trying to shift its costs and responsibilities to the irrigators after their shotty construction which has and will require additional work immediately following its completion. Our farmers are already struggling with economic pressures and cannot afford this additional burden.”
