Letters to the Editor

Governor Jeff Landry of the state of Louisiana has just made a new bill that requires every classroom in that state display the Ten Commandments. Texas and Oklahoma have considered designing a similar bill for their states' classrooms.Since our founding as a nation under God faith was always a part in our education system. We are a country founded onJudeo christianity. The Democratic party changed this abruptly in 1979 when Democrat President Jimmy Carter federalized our education system. So this paved the way for atheists in 1980 to challenge the Ten Commandments if these were displayed in national classrooms. They went to the Supreme court who voted in their favor. The Supreme court that it was unconstitutional for Ten Commandments or prayer for that matter to be in any American classroom. Because such bills went against the established clause in the U.S. Constitution. The clause says, "Congress can make no law respecting an establishment of religion." What are your thoughts regarding bringing back the Ten Commandments in our public schools? How about in Montana statewide and here in Roundup? Should our Governor consider a similar law? I mean if LGBQ readers are allowed in our schools to read to youngsters why not bring back God into their lives? Fair is fair right?
