Mark Anthony Bublich

On August 24, 2024 the fish in Montana, North Dakota and Saskatchewan breathed a collective sigh of relief. Mark was not in pursuit of them anymore.

Mark Anthony Bublich was born April 20, 1956 in Butte, MT. Three days later he was adopted by John and Mary Bublich and was raised as their only child in Camp Three in Roundup, Montana.

Mark spent his childhood hunting in the Bull Mountains and fishing on the Musselshell River for catfish and the streams in the Snowy Mountains for brook trout. He took great joy in taking other people fishing, especially if they caught their first or biggest fish. He loved sharing his bounty with family & friends. Mark also kept very detailed journals of all his expeditions.

Mark graduated from Roundup High School in 1974 and he spent a year at Montana State University, but found the fishing in Bozeman much more appealing than school. He joined the work force to support his fishing habit, working for the sawmills in Roundup and then went to the oil field.

Mark met Jane Kvale in Scobey, MT when he was working for Cardinal Drilling. They were married in 1984; shortly after that he adopted Jane's son Aaron. They had two more children, Amy and John.

Mark left the oilfield in 1990 and enrolled in the meat merchandising and processing school at Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City, IA. He immediately went to work in Plentywood where he excelled in his trade and became the local meat authority. He taught his brother-in-law, Chad Kvale, the business and they worked together for over twenty years. After over thirty years he retired. Unfortunately his body betrayed him and he was unable to do all the fishing and hunting he planned. Instead, he became Jane's personal chef and gardener.

Mark instilled a strong work ethic in his children and was so very proud of all of them. He also had a deep love of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents John & Mary Bublich; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Yvonne Kvale; and his very special uncle Bill Oset.

Surviving Mark are his wife Jane; son Aaron and Stephinie along with their children Lottie, Leif and Harlow and a son Aadon of Houston, TX; daughter Amy and Curtis Ueland and their children Layla and Emerick; and son John and Samantha and their children Tabitha, Jemma and Atticus. Also surviving are Jane's three brothers Larry Kvale, Kevin Kvale, and Chad Kvale and Jane's two sisters and brothers-in-law Sue and Don Boos and Vicki and Jim Flotkoetter; as well as nieces and nephews.

I imagine he is fishing in the sky with Frank Bailey and Frank is still trying to knock his fish off the hook with the net.

Graveside services will be 11AM Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Plentywood Cemetery. There will be a reception following at Angel Light Catering. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements, post remembrances, send cards and flowers online at http://www.fulkersonsplentywood.com
