Montana's very first Marketplace for Kids took place at Roundup Elementary on September 25th. The occasion was attended by Montana Govenor Greg Gianforte, his wife Susan, Mayor Jones, and local DJ personality Mike Morgan.
The Marketplace for Kids has been an ongoing annual event for young students in North Dakota for 30 years. Robert Hietcamp and his associates wanted to bring this successfull program to Montana, and over a year ago came to Roundup to begin working with the school and local businesses to begin the planning. The event was a success, with many students feeling enthusiastic about the whole program. Marketplace for Kids offers career classes that show students what different jobs are like in thier local community. It gives them ideas of different career pathways that they could achieve.
The Marketplace for Kids has seen many successes in the state of North Dakota.
Many of the students have become very successful, and have suggested that much of their inspiration was from when they had attended Marketplace for kids when they were young. Hopefully it will become an annual event for Roundup, which includes students from Melstone.
