With inputs getting higher it is getting harder and harder to make a profit in the farm and ranch world. Dallas Mount, who recently bought the business from David Pratt, continues to share profit tips for ranchers through the Ranching for Profit workshops and intensives. Their goal is to aid producers in navigating management practices that will improve their business, profit margins, as well as the health of their land. Winnett ACES and STA-Stewardship Through Agriculture, are working together to bring a two day workshop to Central MT November 14-15. Lewistown will host Thursday, November 14th at the Eagles beginning at 8:30 and ending at 5:00 with a no host social. Topics covered in Lewistown will be, having a business mindset; what is profit; economics, finances & taxes; the 3 secrets for increasing profit; and succession planning. Winnett will host November 15th at the Petroleum County Community Center beginning at 8:15 with a light breakfast and ending at 5:00. Topics covered in Winnett will be a short recap of day 1; understanding your numbers; quick review of soil health; grazing priniciples; and ending with a Q&A session. Melinda Simms with Simms Cattle Company from southeast Wyoming will instruct both days. The cost is $20/person/day which includes lunch, served both days. For more information about the event or to register by November 1st, visit winnettaces.org/events or contact Jennifer Solf with Winnett ACES, 406-366-6475 or Megan Green with STA, 406-462-5408. Please join us for one day or both to learn how to improve the profitability of your operation. These workshops will be a great introduction to the program for those who have never attended a Ranching for Profit event or a refresher to any RFP alumni.
