I was elected seven times and served more than 30 years as a Justice of the Peace in Richland County before my retirement in 2016. During my long career on the bench, I worked with both of the district court judges who are now running for a seat on the Montana Supreme Court. They are Judge Katherine Bidegaray of Sidney and Judge Dan Wilson of Kalispell.
I got to know Judge Bidegaray very well in the nearly 15 years we spent working in the same judicial district. I also got to know Judge Dan Wilson very well over the six years that he served as a Justice of the Peace in Flathead County and later, after he became a district court judge. Having spent years getting to know and working with both of these candidates, I am wholeheartedly supporting Judge Dan Wilson for Supreme Court.
Judge Wilson is respected and well-liked among judges statewide because of his dedication to legal education, the courts, and the rule of law. Regularly, he took part in training his fellow judges by giving presentations on multiple legal topics. Judge Wilson consistently received some of the highest ratings for our educators because of his command of the law and his ability to explain it in ways that anyone can understand.
I believe Judge Dan Wilson would be an excellent addition to the Montana Supreme Court and that is why I am voting for him. I sincerely hope you will, too.
