Daniel Roy Jones, 59, of Roundup, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday October 27, 2024.
Dan was born July 16, 1965, in Billings, MT to James & Betty (Lennick) Jones. He spent his early years of childhood in Billings before moving to Roundup with his mother & siblings. He attended Roundup High School and enjoyed wrestling, football and track. Dan joined the ROTC his junior year in preparation to join the Army after graduating in 1984. Dan served two years in the Army Reserves before receiving an honorable discharge. Shortly after being discharged he returned to Roundup and met the love of his life, Juana Tafolla. Dan and Juana were married on September 10,1988. They made their life together in Roundup where they raised their three children, Misty, Bryan and Shalee. Dan spent many years working in the oil fields and was proud to be a roughneck. Dan was always willing to do any job that would provide for his family. Many people in Roundup will remember him cooking & waiting tables at the Busy Bee Café, customers were always happy to see his smiling face. In later years, he enjoyed doing odd jobs for people around town, his favorite jobs were for all of his "little old ladies" around town, he loved being able to help them. Dan always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He took great pride in being able to teach his grandsons how to do many things and always loved any chance to brag about them and their accomplishments. Dan never met a stranger, he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a heart of gold, was always willing to help anyone and did it with a smile.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald, and infant brother Timothy. He is survived by his wife Juana; children, Misty (Bryan), Bryan, and Shalee (Amos); grandsons, Brayden & Bryce DeJaegher and Jaydin Jones; stepfather Brad Voise; siblings, Jimmy Jones, Sherry Dodd, Justin Voise, Sara (Jason) Brown, Rachel Brown and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, November 9th in Roundup, Montana. Military honors will take place at 1:30pm at the war memorial located at the south end of Main Street. Funeral is to follow at 2:00pm at the Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 602 Main Street in Roundup.
