Dear Lavina Community,
Merry Christmas from all of us in the office! This festive season at Lavina School has been truly special, filled with students decorating doors, crafting, dressing up, and celebrating everything that makes our school unique. As we head into the holiday break, I want to share my heartfelt gratitude with the entire Lavina community for your continued support. May this season bring you cherished moments with loved ones and memories to treasure for years to come. Happy Holidays!
Christmas Concert, PK-8 We are excited to announce the school Christmas program on December 18th at 7:00 PM. A huge thank you to Mrs. Jansen and Miss Boehm for their hard work in organizing this wonderful event. We hope to see you there to celebrate
the season with our talented students.
Holiday Food Baskets Ms. Schwehr and the Lavina High School Chapter of the National Honor Society, along with the Lavina Junior Honor Society, are organizing a holiday food drive. The details of this event are included with this publication. We are grateful
for the public’s support and encourage everyone to contribute to this important cause.
Opportunities to Give As we approach the end of the year, we are reminded of the generosity of this community. Monetary donations are always appreciated during this time. These funds help support various programs throughout the year, including the quarterly awards celebrations where we recognize the academic achievements and accomplishments of our students. Your donations are used to purchase awards for these deserving students, helping us celebrate their hard work and dedication.
Additionally, the grants we receive are specifically used to support our educational programs and initiatives. We are deeply appreciative of your continued support and encourage you to consider making a donation to help further enhance the learning experiences for our students.
Did You Know Hub As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself looking ahead to the legislative session of 2025. Governor Gianforte has expressed his commitment to prioritizing education in the coming year.
According to Montana.gov, “The Path to Security and Prosperity also protects record funding in public education, builds on the success of the governor’s TEACH Act by raising teacher pay, expands educational opportunities, and provides a financial incentive for schools to adopt ‘cell phone-free’ policies to reduce classroom distractions and improve the mental health of students.”
To support teacher pay increases, “The Path to Security and Prosperity invests more than $100 million over the biennium to raise the amount teachers earn, with a focus on educators who are starting their careers in the classroom.” The budget proposal also expands Big Sky Scholarship funding to ensure that students can access top-tier educational opportunities. Additionally, “It includes $1 million in one-time-only funding to create incentives for school districts to adopt ‘cell phone-free’ school policies.”
To address infrastructure needs, the governor’s plan proposes “adding $81 million to the School Facilities Trust to help local school districts with deferred maintenance to fill the fund.”
Beginning with the December edition, I am introducing the “Did You Know Hub” to share financial facts about Lavina School and keep our community informed. Stay tuned for more updates in future editions!
As we wrap up the year, I want to once again thank each and every one of you for being an essential part of our Lavina school community.
Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Hanson
