Vets Thanksgiving Giveaway
A few days before Thanksgiving, all Veterans got a treat. Bill Turner and Pete Herzog manned the Warrior Wishes trailer at the IGA parking lot to give free Thanksgiving dinner boxes to any veteran in need. Sponsored by VFW Post 4925, these boxes contained a frozen turkey, stuffing, potatoes, rolls and a dessert. This meal would be able to feed four people per the vets.
Any military veteran of any war was eligible for this free Thanksgiving dinner. The trailer arrived with fifty meals. By midday, all but ten were distributed.
They would also be delivering this meal to a few remaining homebound WWII vets in the area.
Both Turner and Herzog served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam conflict. Herzog for four years in the Army, and then six years in the Army reserve. Turner served for two years in the Army.
Thanks to all our veterans for your service!
The Roundup Riverwalk and Heritage Trail is a great place for a Sunday stroll, even after a bit of snow.
Okay, like a post on Facebook noted, we've all done this. Used the back porch or garage as a refrigerator/freezer.
