Finding the Light
Submitted by: Youth C.A.R.E.S
In the quiet corners where shadows play,
I sit with my thoughts on Christmas Day.
The laughter outside feels distant and far,
Yet in my heart, a flickering star.
Amidst the lights that twinkle bright,
I wrestle with feelings, both heavy and light.
Loneliness whispers, "You're all on your own,"
But in this stillness, I've started to grow.
For in the silence, I find my refrain,
A voice that reminds me, I'm more than my pain.
The warmth of the season begins to unfold,
In moments of quiet, my courage is bold.
I dream of connection, of kindness, of song,
Of finding my place where I truly belong.
So I wrap up my wishes and send them out wide,
For hope can be found even when I feel tried.
I may feel alone, but I'm never apart,
For the spirit of Christmas lives deep in my heart.
With each passing moment, I'll learn to embrace,
The beauty in solitude, the strength in this space.
-Remember, you're not the only one that feels alone. Hope can grow in the most unexpected places.

This Christmas

As the holiday season embraces our town, I reflect on the true spirit of Christmas and its meaning for us all. Surrounded by twinkling lights, the scent of pine, and children's laughter, we are reminded to come together in love, kindness, and acceptance.
Christmas invites us to celebrate compassion, generosity, and understanding. Let's cherish these values and strengthen our community during this special time. It is a reminder that we are all part of a larger family, a community woven together by our shared humanity. It is a chance to open our hearts to one another, to embrace our differences, and to recognize the beauty in diversity.
I understand that our town has faced challenges, and I know that for some, the idea of welcoming everyone into our community can be difficult. Fear and misunderstanding can breed division, but I urge you to consider the power of love and acceptance. Every person, regardless of their background, brings unique experiences and perspectives that enrich our lives and strengthen our community.
Imagine a Christmas where every child, regardless of the color of their skin or the language they speak, can celebrate together. A Christmas where laughter echoes in every home, where families share meals, stories, and traditions. It is in this spirit of unity that we find the true essence of the holiday-a time for forgiveness, a time for healing, and a time to build bridges instead of walls.
The spirit of Christmas embodies compassion, generosity, and connection. It's a time when we are reminded of the power of love and kindness, urging us to reach out to one another-especially those in need. In a world that often feels divided, Christmas calls us to embrace empathy and understanding, fostering a sense of belonging for everyone. Let us carry this spirit beyond the season, creating a lasting impact in our communities and nurturing the bonds that unite us all.
Let us also remember the story of the first Christmas, where love was born in the most humble of circumstances. The message of that night transcends time and speaks to our hearts today: that kindness is not reserved for those who are like us, but is a gift we can share with everyone we meet.
This year, I encourage you to open your hearts and invite your neighbors, no matter their background.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful holiday season.
